Heh, to be fair, many of the Minang did migrated to Negeri Sembilan hundreds of years ago so they of course bring the Minangkabau Culture with them. So in a way, it IS part of their Heritage and Culture tho' they shouldn't say things like it started in their country.
And having been to the Minang Land myself before, I can say it is still in the purest form. Haven't been to Negri Sembilan yet but watching some shows, it seems to be diluted a bit by Malay Culture.

It's just like with the Cultures in Singapore. We consist of 4 main groups (Chinese, Malay, Indian and Others/Eurasian) and we consider certain practices to be OUR Culture & Heritage, even when it's still practice in the original country (China, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Europe). Certain things of course also developed further in our country making it unique but luckily, we are consistantly reminded that our forefathers came from elsewhere and we have shows or museum that explore the origin of our cultures and practices and even compare to how it had becomes here or continued to be practiced compared to it in the original country.

LESSON HERE :
It's all in the usage of words dear ;) and apparent some people and even Ministers in that neighbouring country dun know how to use it properly. Come on! Hainainese Chicken Rice is of course created in China and there are MANY types of Laksa around which can varies quite a lot between each other (Laksa Penang, Laksa Johor, Laksa Peranakan, Laksa Singapore etc etc)

Oh great....this talk about the Minangkabau is making me want to eat the REAL Rendang from Padang, after seeing this local TV Show that show how the original is like especially the part of it being cooked for 3 days compared to here, within an hour or 2!
